The Homefires Flames fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They secured a 31-26 W over East Moline Christian on Saturday. That's another feather in the cap for Homefires, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Homefires to victory were Jaylan Dozier and Colin Chesnut. Dozier scored 11 points, while Chesnut scored 12 points. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which Chesnut has scored at least a third of Homefires' points.
Homefires' win bumped their record up to 7-12. As for East Moline Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 16 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.
Homefires didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-50 loss vs. Calvary Baptist Christian Academy on the 10th. East Moline Christian will look to defend their home court on Monday against Galesburg Christian at 7:00 p.m. East Moline Christian is coming into the contest with four straight defeats at home, meaning Galesburg Christian will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
