After flying high against the Swallows Charter Academy Spartans last Tuesday, the Swink Lions came back down to earth. Swink fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 28-25. Swink has not had much luck with the Chargers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hunter Wallace, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Wallace has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Mendenhall, who scored two points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
Among those leading the charge was Ashlyn Berg, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. She is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Emma Pachak was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Swink's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Crowley County, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Swink will take on the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Holly is ranked 223rd, while the Lions are ranked 200th). As for Crowley County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Las Animas is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
