Desert Vista is 9-1 against Corona del Sol since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Thunder will head out to square off against the Aztecs at 3:45 p.m. One thing working in Desert Vista's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five contests.
Desert Vista will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Hamilton, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Thunder came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 10-6 on Wednesday. Desert Vista's victory was all the more impressive since the Huskies were averaging only 3.43 runs allowed on the season.

Thailee Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jessa Ramirez was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Takoah Jones, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Ramirez wasn't the only one making solid contact: Desert Vista kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Corona del Sol and Hamilton, and Hamilton kept the tradition alive. The Aztecs lost 13-2 to the Huskies on Tuesday.
Corona del Sol saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylie Pequeno, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Desert Vista's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Corona del Sol, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Desert Vista hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .471. However, it's not like Corona del Sol struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Desert Vista beat Corona del Sol 15-11 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Thunder have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Aztecs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
