West Shamokin's Andrew Wingard rumbled for the longest rushing play in WPIAL A Eastern this season in his game against North Catholic last week. Wingard's team lost to the Trojans as he sprinted for 95 yards on the play and finished with 148 in all.
Riverview moved up to 472 from 524 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Raiders were able to move up by beating Wilkinsburg 19-12.
Jesse Zelonka threw for 205 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Tre Tipton was the best receiver in the league this week as Apollo Ridge lost to Avonworth. Tipton racked up 11 receptions for 125 yards. Alex Smith helped Apollo Ridge's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 42 yards.
The Vikings' Zelonka and Smith have formed a dream team this season, leading WPIAL A Eastern in both passing and receiving yards. Zelonka has thrown for 698 yards this season, while Smith, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 16 catches for 296 yards. Wingard from West Shamokin leads the league in rushing with 459 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place North Catholic takes on second place Avonworth.

The Trojans added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Jon McCullough's team, 60-27. The victory was the fifth in a row for North Catholic.
