For the second straight game, Bonneville will face off against Bountiful. The Lakers will venture away from home to square off against the RedHawks at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Bonneville has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Bonneville came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Bountiful, falling 17-10. Even though they lost, the Lakers' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
For Bountiful's part, Jacob Stapley made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Stapley also tossed no walks, which is notable because Bountiful is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 7-10 otherwise. Stapley was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Krew Nelson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mickey Willis, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Bountiful was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Bountiful has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Bonneville, they dropped their record down to 8-12 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bonneville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bountiful struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
