On Wednesday, the North Country Union Falcons faced the Montpelier Solons in a battle between two of the state's top teams. North Country Union fell 59-47 to Montpelier. North Country Union has not had much luck with Montpelier recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Carson Cody was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and 0 assists for Montpelier. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cody has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Atif Milak, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds.
North Country Union has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season. As for Montpelier, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
North Country Union will head out on the road to challenge Randolph at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Randolph is on a four-game streak of home wins, North Country Union a six-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Montpelier will take on Lamoille at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Vermont (Lamoille is ranked 29th, while Montpelier is ranked 11th).
