Woodlawn is 0-10 against Wenonah since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The pair will round out the year against one another at 3:00 p.m. at. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Woodlawn has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Wenonah will arrive with seven straight victories.
Last Friday, Woodlawn was beaten by Jackson-Olin 39-12. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Woodlawn has scored all season.
Wenonah has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 24 points or more this season. They breezed by Fultondale on the road to the tune of 54-15. Given Wenonah's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Fultondale is ranked 378th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Samarian Franklin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Wenonah's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakerria Ringstaff, who scored two points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.
Woodlawn's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.7 points per game. As for Wenonah, their victory bumped their record up to 15-4.
Woodlawn was dealt a bruising 75-26 loss at the hands of Wenonah when the teams last played back in November of 2021. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Woodlawn was down 42-18.
