The School Without Walls Penguins will venture away from home to square off against the Landon Bears at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, School Without Walls earned a 7-2 win over DC International.
Patrick Morelli spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Ellington Hunt was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Lee, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Landon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They never let Washington Latin Public Charter School get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Thursday. The Bears not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024.
Jaxon Garon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Garon was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base.
In other pitching news, Noah Forrest looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on James Gibson, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Fred Malek, who scored a run and stole a base.
Landon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .522. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington Latin Public Charter School only posted an OBP of .294.
The win snapped Landon's losing streak at five games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-3 record. As for School Without Walls, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
School Without Walls might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Landon when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can School Without Walls avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
