The Cook Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Fitzgerald by a score of 60-57. The game was a 27-27 toss-up at halftime, but Cook was outscored by Fitzgerald in the second.
Defeat or not, Cook got some senior leadership from Keshun McKever and Ny'shaun Wallace. McKever scored 17 points along with two steals, while Wallace. scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McKever has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Reshauld Tippins, who scored four points along with nine rebounds.
Cook dropped their record down to 6-10 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Fitzgerald, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Sumter County the next time they take the court. Cook will host Sumter County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Fitzgerald will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
