After flying high against the Niwot Cougars last Saturday, the Northridge Grizzlies came back down to earth. Northridge took a 61-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Skyline on Tuesday. Northridge was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Skyline apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Lincoln Lyons and Drake Walker certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Lyons scored nine points along with 19 rebounds and five steals, while Walker scored 20 points along with two steals and two blocks. Walker is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Louis Pisano was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six steals.
Skyline had a senior duo take command as Talan Starcevich dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds and Rahman Carson scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That's the first time this season that Carson pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jamal Gilliam, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Northridge dropped their record down to 4-9 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Skyline, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.
Northridge will be playing at home against Thompson Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Skyline will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Roosevelt at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th.
