On Monday David Medich struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). The effort marked the most strikeouts Medich has had since back in April of 2024. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was his fourth in a row with more than seven strikeouts. For the year, he has an ERA of 3.73 over 20.7 innings pitched.

Even though Medich couldn't lead Hopewell over North Catholic, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
