The Salem Rocks will be playing at home against the Novi Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Salem is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
Last Friday, Salem came up short against Howell and fell 58-48. While losing is never fun, Salem can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 429th, while Howell is ranked 116th).
The losing side was boosted by Mitchell Robillard, who scored 15 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mitch Paspal, who scored five points along with five rebounds.
Novi proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 24) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Hartland out 43-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Novi has posted yet this season.
Salem has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Novi, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.
Salem came up short against Novi when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 67-54. Can Salem avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
