Key has gone 8-1-1 against St. Frances Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Obezags will look to defend their home field against the Panthers at 4:15 p.m. Key is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Key came up short against Pallotti and fell 11-6. The Obezags haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
John Fisher was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Alex Neenan was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, St. Frances Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Friends on Wednesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Quakers with a sharp 15-3 win. Considering the Panthers have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
St. Frances Academy got a massive performance out of Dorian Goldston, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Joseph Cooper, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
St. Frances Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Key, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Key has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Frances Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Key came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Frances Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Will the Obezags repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
