The Tempe Prep Knights lost against the Horizon Honors Eagles back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Tempe Prep took a serious blow against the Eagles, falling 54-22. Tempe Prep has struggled against the Eagles recently, as their match on Wednesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Horizon Honors was led to victory by Keira Bertagna and Audriana Anglada. Bertagna scored 15 points, while Anglada dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Bertagna scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Josie Barden, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Tempe Prep's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-12. As for Horizon Honors, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6.
Tempe Prep will head out on the road to face off against the Wolves at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully St. Augustine Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Wednesday. As for Horizon Honors, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pumas at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Sequoia Pathway Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Eagles are ranked 81st).
