The Cyprus Pirates will square off against the Granger Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cyprus took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 31-6 margin over Taylorsville. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Pirates considering their seven-point performance the game before.

Cyprus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brock Langford, who threw for 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Pirates also got help from Aiden Perea, who showed off his sure hands for 123 receiving yards.
Cyprus' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Rhonan Brunt, Mike Brunt, and Cyrus Armenta, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Granger). They simply couldn't be stopped last Thursday as they easily beat Kearns 56-7. The win was nothing new for the Lancers as they're now sitting on three straight.
Granger's win came from a few key players Cyprus will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Owen Griffin, who threw for 403 yards and three TDs on only 17 passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Granger is undefeated when Griffin posts 300 or more passing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. La'Auli Figiel was Griffin's top target, picking up 201 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Granger was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 262 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Granger didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ethan Sam and Tusi Manatau.
Granger's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Cyprus, their win bumped their record up to an identical 4-2.
Cyprus took a serious blow against Granger in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 54-0. Will the Pirates have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more football content.
