Softball Recap: Pottsville's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

After flying high against Lamar last Thursday, Pottsville came back down to earth. Pottsville fell just short of the Mena Bearcats by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Apaches' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Madison Kellar was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run. Callie Holcomb was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Pottsville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Mena, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pottsville will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Scranton at 4:30 p.m. on the 31st. Scranton will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Pottsville surely won't give up without a fight. Mena also won't see the field for a while: their next game is against Waldron at 4:30 p.m. on April 1.
