Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Holy Innocents Episcopal Golden Bears, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They received a tough blow on Saturday as they fell 21-7 to Cedartown. Having soared to a lofty 38 points in the game before, Holy Innocents Episcopal couldn't push the score so high this time.
Among those leading the charge was Juelz Davis, who rushed for 145 yards on only 15 carries. Davis was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cedartown's defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Grant Kirkpatrick and Maleek Frederick who racked up 4.5 sacks between them.
Holy Innocents Episcopal's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Cedartown, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Holy Innocents Episcopal does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cedartown will face off against North Oconee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in North Oconee's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last ten games.
