It was a good run, but the Wade Hampton Generals unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Riverside by a score of 70-68. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (57), Wade Hampton still had to take the loss.
Madison Garrido was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 27 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals for Riverside. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Garrido has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Elly Trickett, who scored 11 points.
Wade Hampton's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Riverside, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wade Hampton will take on Eastside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Eastside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for Riverside, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greer will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Riverside is ranked 14th).
