The Lawrenceburg Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Harrison Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Lawrenceburg has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Lawrenceburg fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Connersville on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by just one run.
Brody Price put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over eight innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Price was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one RBI.
In other batting news, T.J. Tibbetts was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Landon Cornett also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Harrison strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Talawanda with a sharp 13-2 win. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly 11 runs.
Jack Geers was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Gavin Sparks, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Harrison pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Lawrenceburg, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lawrenceburg has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Harrison struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lawrenceburg came out on top in a nail-biter against Harrison when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
