The Creekview Grizzlies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 40-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sequoyah. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Creekview in their matchups with Sequoyah: they've now lost five in a row.
Amilya Taft (sy) and Callie Cavender certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Taft (sy) scored seven points along with eight rebounds, while Cavender scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Sequoyah was led to victory by Addison Ghorley and Carly Bass. Ghorley scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Bass scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Bass has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.
Creekview's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Sequoyah, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Creekview won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cherokee at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th. Cherokee knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully Creekview likes a good challenge. Sequoyah's road trip will continue as they head out to face West Forsyth at 4:00 p.m. on January 20th.
