The Indian Creek Braves will square off against the Cloverdale Clovers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Indian Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Indian Creek took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Sullivan, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Braves came out on top in a nail-biter against the Golden Arrows on Tuesday, sneaking past 8-7. The game was the first time the Braves have beaten the Golden Arrows on their field since May 16, 2017.
Delaney Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Amelia Woodke, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Campbell, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Cloverdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 12-6 to South Putnam.
Aalyiah Burroff made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Adelaide Meyerrose, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Indian Creek is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Cloverdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Indian Creek has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cloverdale struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Indian Creek took their victory against Cloverdale in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Braves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
