Sycamore proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by six) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over the East Robertson Indians. Winning may never get old, but the War Eagles sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Nathaniel Batson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
Batson wasn't the only one making solid contact: Sycamore kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Sycamore's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for East Robertson, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sycamore will challenge Cheatham County Central at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cubs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.64 runs per game on average), something the War Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for East Robertson, they will square off against White House-Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
