Ally Compton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Caroline Wendlinger was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Brooklyn Kuna was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Munster always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valparaiso only posted an OBP of .000.
Meanwhile, Hobart made easy work of Pioneer on Saturday and carried off a 19-6 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Brickies.
Addisyn Johnson was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ladan Weinman, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Munster's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Hobart, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Hobart's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Munster has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Hobart, though, as they've been averaging only 2 strikeouts. Will Munster keep running through batters, or will the Brickies buck the trend?
Munster was able to grind out a solid win over Hobart in their previous meeting back in April, winning 9-5. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Brickies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
