The Sterling Tigers suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 54-18 loss at the hands of Eaton. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sterling in their matchups with Eaton: they've now lost eight in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Sterling lost, one person who can't be blamed is Grace Petersen. Despite the final result, she scored six points.
Eaton found their leader in underclassman Saryiah Gaona, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Gaona is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayla Wiedeman, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Sterling's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-5. As for Eaton, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Sterling will be playing at home against Weld Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eaton, they will head out on the road to challenge Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
