Softball Game Preview: Franklin Indians vs. Parkville Knights

Franklin has gone a perfect 5-0 against Parkville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Franklin will be playing in front of their home fans against Parkville at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Franklin's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Lansdowne 18-0. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Scarlett Cornwell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Cornwell was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jada Lochary and Mia Cleveland did most of the damage at the plate: Lochary went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Cleveland scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Lanee Houser was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Parkville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on Kenwood with a sharp 12-5 win on Monday. The Knights not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 19, 2024.

Franklin's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Parkville, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Everything went Franklin's way against Parkville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Franklin made off with a 13-2 victory. Will Franklin repeat their success, or does Parkville has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
