The New Washington Mustangs will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Paoli Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. New Washington is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
New Washington pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Trinity Lutheran.
Meanwhile, Paoli had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three two weeks ago. They snuck past Barr-Reeve with a 37-32 victory. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, as Paoli did.
Paoli got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carley Higgins out in front who scored ten points. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Higgins has scored at least 25% of Paoli's points. Lilly Hall was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
New Washington has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Paoli, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-6.
