Cloverleaf has gone a perfect 10-0 against Coventry recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Cloverleaf Colts are taking a road trip to take on the Coventry Comets at 11:30 a.m. Cloverleaf is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season.
Cloverleaf is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Streetsboro on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Cloverleaf was beaten by Streetsboro 62-25. The Colts have struggled against the Rockets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Emma Hibler put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted four points and five boards.
Meanwhile, Coventry had to suffer through a 61-28 loss at the hands of Norton. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 596th, while the Panthers are ranked 210th).
Cloverleaf will have to keep a close watch on Danica Baird and Kayla Munn, a pair of players who had a big impact on Coventry's prior game. Baird put up four points and three steals, while Munn earned ten points. What's more, Munn also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in February of 2024.
Even though they lost, Coventry smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.
Cloverleaf's record is now 14-6. As for Coventry, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Cloverleaf has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Coventry struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Cloverleaf against Coventry in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 60-29 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cloverleaf since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
