The Cotulla Cowboys's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a hard 87-70 fall against Crystal City. Cotulla has struggled against the Javelinas recently, as their match on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Crystal City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eli Mata, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Mata hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Mena, who scored 30 points.
Cotulla has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season. As for Crystal City, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-12 record this season.
Cotulla will head out on the road to take on the Wolves at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Dilley is on a three-game streak of home losses, the Cowboys a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Crystal City will take on the Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lytle knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully the Javelinas like a good challenge.
