Hubbard is 9-1 against Girard since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Eagles will host the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Hubbard is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Hubbard took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against LaBrae, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Vikings on Saturday, sneaking past 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since May 13, 2025.
Haleigh Taylor was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Taylor was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Layla Songer, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Girard beat Columbiana 5-1 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.
Brooklyn Broll spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Chloe Plant was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Quinn Wilster was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Girard hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Girard's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Hubbard, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Girard's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Hubbard has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Girard, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Hubbard keep running through batters, or will the Indians buck the trend?
Hubbard got the 'W' in their previous meeting last Wednesday against Girard by a conclusive 12-6 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
