The Rolesville Rams had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 61-58 win over Wake Forest on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Rolesville to victory were Anthony Roberts and Michael Downing. Roberts scored 19 points along with eight rebounds, while Downing scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Roberts has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Life Lynch, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Wake Forest's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Palmer Chase, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Kavon Simmons was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Rolesville's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11. As for Wake Forest, their defeat was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-17.
Rolesville will take on the Huskies at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Heritage focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday. As for Wake Forest, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Millbrook presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Cougars in North Carolina (the Wildcats are ranked 30th, while the Cougars are ranked 483rd).
