The Hayden Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 73-21 loss at the hands of Glencoe. While losing is never fun, Hayden can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 356th, while Glencoe is ranked 168th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Glencoe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Evelyn Nowak, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Nowak grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Libby King, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Hayden's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Glencoe, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.
Hayden will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mortimer Jordan at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. The timing is sure in Mortimer Jordan's favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home while Hayden has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Glencoe is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Douglas at 1:30 p.m. on December 27th.
