After flying high against the Sports Leadership & Management Spartans on Friday, the Jupiter Christian Eagles came back down to earth. Jupiter Christian was the victim of a tough 59-37 loss at the hands of City of Life Christian Academy on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Jupiter Christian has suffered yet this season.
Despite the loss, Jupiter Christian saw an underclassman step up: Mackenzie Kendall scored six points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Kendall pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Jupiter Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as City of Life Christian Academy racked up 18 assists.
City of Life Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mia Garcia, who scored 13 points along with nine steals and seven rebounds. Garcia is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Wener, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Jupiter Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for City of Life Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jupiter Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Master's Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Master's Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for City of Life Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Trinity Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Trinity Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Thursday.
