Blacksburg has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Patrick Henry Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Blacksburg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 286th, while Patrick Henry is ranked 30th).
Last Friday, Blacksburg suffered a tough 30-6 loss at the hands of Hidden Valley.
Meanwhile, Patrick Henry had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against Christiansburg by a score of 30-21.
Blacksburg's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 1-7 Hidden Valley and 2-6 Pulaski County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37.2% over those games). As for Patrick Henry, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Blacksburg was dealt a bruising 42-3 defeat at the hands of Patrick Henry in their previous matchup back in September of 2022. Can Blacksburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
