Freedom is 0-3 against Wekiva since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Freedom Patriots will look to defend their home court against the Wekiva Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Freedom didn't have too much trouble with Lake Brantley at home as they won 46-29. The win was just what Freedom needed coming off of a 60-27 loss in their prior game.
Meanwhile, Wekiva had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took their contest on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 58-23 win over Winter Springs. Given Wekiva's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Winter Springs is ranked 432nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wekiva's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tierra Coleman, who scored 16 points along with four steals. Makayla Bell was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals.
Freedom's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Wekiva, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
