Silex is 0-10 against North Callaway since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Silex Owls' road trip will continue as they head out to face the North Callaway Thunderbirds at 5:30 p.m. on January 25th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Tuesday, Silex was beaten by Van-Far 69-38. While losing is never fun, Silex can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 548th, while Van-Far is ranked 210th).
Meanwhile, North Callaway's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. Their rough 75-50 defeat to Bowling Green might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss North Callaway has suffered since December 5, 2023.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Sam Pezold, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isiah Craighead, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Silex's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for North Callaway, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.
Silex was taken down by North Callaway 78-47 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Pezold, who scored 27 points along with six steals. Now that Silex knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
