AA Region 5 recap October 22, 2013
Jordan's Tim Griggs rumbled for the longest rushing play in AA Region 5 this season in his game against Heard County last week. Griggs' team lost to the Braves as he sprinted for 75 yards on the play and finished with 111 in all.
Bowdon extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Spencer, 40-8. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Jordan's William Harris and Javante West led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Harris has thrown for 1,333 yards this season, while West has 50 catches for 767 yards. Temple's Christian Armstrong leads the league in rushing yards with 301.
A big matchup in AA Region 5 this week will be when Bowdon takes on Bremen. At the moment, Dwight Hochstetler's team is in first, while the Blue Devils are in fifth.
Jim Brown's team fell to Heard County 56-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Griggs ran for 111 yards in the loss.
