The Shields Panthers just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the W.S. Neal Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Shields focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Monday.
Shields can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game. They walked away with a 66-55 win over McKenzie. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Shields' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adrian Watts, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Watts continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dante Leffall, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for W.S. Neal, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-31 loss to T.R. Miller on Monday. W.S. Neal has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Shields' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-12. As for W.S. Neal, they bumped their record down to 5-12 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Shields was able to grind out a solid victory over W.S. Neal in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 41-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shields since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
