Westlake Charter has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the John Adams Academy Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Westlake Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
Westlake Charter pushed their score all the way to 58, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Elite. Westlake Charter has not had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Brian Ash, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinones Fleeton, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, John Adams Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. Their tough 63-40 loss to Foresthill might stick with them for a while.
Westlake Charter dropped their record down to 8-12 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for John Adams Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-20 record this season.
Westlake Charter strolled past the Patriots in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 72-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westlake Charter since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
