The Chillicothe Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Benjamin Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Chillicothe has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while Benjamin will arrive with 23 straight victories.
Chillicothe fell victim to Paducah's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Dragons at home and fell 46-0. While losing is never fun, Chillicothe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while Paducah is ranked 71st).
Meanwhile, Benjamin put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Harrold, posting a 69-6 win on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 69-6.
Grayson Rigdon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 203 yards and four touchdowns on only five carries. Rigdon hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. Keegan Hayes was in the mix too, providing Benjamin with two touchdowns.
Chillicothe's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 8.4 points per game. As for Benjamin, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.
Chillicothe took a serious blow against Benjamin when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 40-0. Can Chillicothe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
