West Central is 6-1 against South Newton since August of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rebels at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
South Newton will take on a team with plenty of momentum: West Central extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Trojans took their matchup with ease, bagging a 36-7 victory over North Newton. With the Trojans ahead 30-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Felipe Bazan, who picked up 68 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and also rushed for 60 yards and one touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Bazan a new career-high in receiving touchdowns (two). Another player making a difference was Connor Huber, who rushed for 80 yards and one TD.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 260 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 260 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to West Central's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Kaleb Kovach and Landon Hughes, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Newton). They strolled past Tri-County with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 34-16.
South Newton found their leader in sophomore Lyle Harrington, who threw for 175 yards and three touchdowns while completing 77.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 30 yards and one score.
South Newton's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for West Central, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
West Central strolled past South Newton in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a score of 34-18. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Rebels' Lucas Bogucki, who rushed for 240 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.0 yards per carry.
