Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Calvert

Calvert waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the La Plata Warriors by a score of 6-2. That's more bragging rights for the Cavaliers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Abigail Seay was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. Seay was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily Milam, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Nicole Hoffmann, who scored a run while going 4-for-4.

Calvert was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Plata only posted a batting average of .231.

Calvert's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for La Plata, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Calvert will square off against rival Chopticon on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Calvert 3.8, Chopticon 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, La Plata is set to face off against their familiar foe McDonough at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
