1A District 3 recap Oct. 9, 2012
Mangham extended the longest winning streak in 1A District 3 this week by beating Tensas, 57-6. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Oak Grove was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. The Tigers beat Delhi Charter 42-0 earlier in the week.
Delhi's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bears feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Asante Griffin has thrown for 547 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Terrance Wesley has eight catches for 182 yards. Griffin also leads the league in rushing with 111 yards.
A big matchup in 1A District 3 this week will be when the Gators take on Mangham. As it stands, Delhi Charter is in third, while Tommy Tharp's team is in first.
Oak Grove made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,573 from 8,959. The advance stemmed from a 42-0 victory over Brett Raley's team last week.
