It was a good run, but the Liberty Lancers unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Pine Creek at home and fell 72-44. The contest was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Liberty struggled afterwards.
Liberty lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jacie Bunck, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Gardner, who scored 12 points.
Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Pine Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty will challenge Doherty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Doherty is ranked 89th, while Liberty is ranked 68th). As for Pine Creek, they will head out on the road to take on Pueblo West at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
