Tolland is 8-1 against East Catholic since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Tolland will take on East Catholic at 3:45 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Tolland had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt South Windsor on Thursday. The Eagles blew past the Bobcats 15-3. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Meanwhile, East Catholic made easy work of Lyman Memorial on Wednesday and carried off a 16-4 win.
Amelia Deschaine was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Katinka Nolan was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bridget Nosal, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
East Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in four consecutive matches.
East Catholic pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.8 runs over those games. As for Tolland, their record now sits at 8-2.
Everything went Tolland's way against East Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Tolland made off with a 17-0 victory. Does Tolland have another victory up their sleeve, or will East Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
