Softball Recap: Chestnut Ridge's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

Chestnut Ridge dropped their record down to 7-3 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Berlin Brothersvalley Mountaineers by a score of 2-0. Considering the last time the Lions couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

As for Berlin Brothersvalley, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games.

For Berlin Brothersvalley's part, not much got past Elena Ritchey, who gave up just five hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Chestnut Ridge off the board. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Ritchey.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Elsie Barna, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chestnut Ridge will square off against Tyrone at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Berlin Brothersvalley, they will take on Meyersdale at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
