Gowanda is 1-6 against Frewsburg since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Even though Eden scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, Gowanda still came out on top. Gowanda walked away with a 64-56 victory over Eden. The victory was all the more spectacular given Gowanda's disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 702nd, while Eden is ranked 296th).
Meanwhile, Frewsburg unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a hard 59-41 fall against Randolph. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Frewsburg has scored all season.
Frewsburg's loss came about despite a quality game from Kael Collver, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. Collver hasn't dropped below three blocks for seven straight games. Blake Weaver was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Gowanda's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5. As for Frewsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.
Gowanda came up short against Frewsburg when the teams last played back in January, falling 84-74. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Frewsburg's Gavin Smith, who scored 34 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Now that Gowanda knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
