New London is 2-7 against St. Bernard since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The New London Whalers will head out on the road to take on the St. Bernard Saints at 7:00 p.m. New London is looking to tack on another W to their nine-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
In what's become a running theme this season, New London gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They blew past Ledyard 75-33 on the road. Given New London's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Ledyard is ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New London relied on the efforts of Savahn Warren, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Devan Williams, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Williams hasn't dropped below 16 points for ten straight games. Da'Shaun Phillips was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, St. Bernard unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 68-60 to East Catholic. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
New London's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for St. Bernard, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-3.
New London came up short against St. Bernard in their previous meeting back in January, falling 67-61. Can New London avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
