The Drummond Trojans came tearing into Saturday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 51-39 victory over Helena Christian.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Drummond to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lexi Nelson, who scored 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Nelson has scored at least 25% of Drummond's points. Charlee Cline was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Drummond's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Helena Christian, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Drummond will square off against Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Helena Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Petra Academy at 4:00 p.m. on February 9th.
