The Meadowbrook Colts will head out to challenge the John Glenn Little Muskies at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Meadowbrook is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Crooksville on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Meadowbrook lost 65-45 to Crooksville. The Colts haven't had much luck with the Ceramics recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite their loss, Meadowbrook saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Austin Warner, who posted 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. Michael Ray was another key player, putting up ten points.
Meanwhile, John Glenn had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.4 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They strolled past the Generals with points to spare, taking the game 68-52. Given the Little Muskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Generals are ranked 340th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meadowbrook better focus on containing Cj Dolan and Brayden Davis as the pair were huge in John Glenn's win. Dolan went 7 of 11 on his way to 19 points and six assists, while Davis went 8 of 12 on his way to 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Davis continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Stehl Bates, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points and five assists.
John Glenn pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Meadowbrook, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Meadowbrook has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25.3 boards per game. However, it's not like John Glenn struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Meadowbrook might still be hurting after the 72-50 loss they got from John Glenn in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bates, who went 8 of 10 on his way to 18 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Now that Meadowbrook knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
