Fruitdale is 0-10 against the Demons since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Fruitdale Pirates will head out on the road to square off against the McIntosh Demons at 7:30 p.m. Fruitdale comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Fruitdale pushed their score all the way to 65 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Washington County.
Despite the defeat, Fruitdale got a solid performance out of Deion Taylor, who scored 28 points. That was a full 43.1% of Fruitdale's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Jones, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, even though Saraland scored an imposing 56 points on Monday, McIntosh still came out on top. McIntosh slipped by the Spartans 57-56. Given McIntosh's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Spartans are ranked 324th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fruitdale dropped their record down to 0-19 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for McIntosh, their victory bumped their record up to 20-4.
Fruitdale took a serious blow against the Demons in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 89-33. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of McIntosh's Brittney Reed Jr., who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 17 rebounds.
